Car Insurance Saturn (Car Insurance). Better Performace Car? Honda Accord Accord Vs Honda Civic?Better Performace Car? Honda Accord Accord Vs Honda Civic? Okay Well Im 19 and I'm about to get my secound car. I Want something I can have a little fun with performace wise. I'm really liking the civics and the accords but dont know which one to go with. Like I have a really good shaped 94 accord that i could pick up for about 3k and a nice civic for the same price, which one schould i go with? Which one will give me more perfrmace, when i put some money into her? Also if you think you know a better car then tell me that i got only 4.5k though that i can spend on a car, but i got a job and i plan to put some performace parts in whatever car i decide to get. Any thing helps thanks(: Go with a Honda Civic! With rising gas prices you do not want a V8 "American Muscle." I've owned plenty of Hondas and right now I own a Honda S2000, which I love. Get a Civic, it's true stock they don't have much horsepower, but there are things you can do. Honda uses a double wishbone suspension and their cars handle like champs. Personally, I've always loved EK (96-00) Civic hatchbacks. There are different engine swaps, intakes, exhaust, etc. you can do for power. I know you won't be disappointed. Stock they average 35-40 mpg, mine had 130hp. You can swap in a K24a2 push 200hp, then with exhaust and intake will put you at 220 and trust me, with that light car, it'll be scary fast for you. 0-60 in 5 seconds, quartermile 13s. Accords are a step up from the Civic's but I don't know the mileage or history of the cars.. Neither of those cars will give you much in performance and would cost a good 5k-7k to really get either car moving with some power under it's waist. Civic and accord within your price range will only be putting out about 110-140hp which to be honest is pathetic. Theres a misconception that these cars are fast and easy to build to be fast but they are not. They take a lot of work that has to be done by a pro someone that really knows what they are doing ( turbo's, headers, engine pistons) none can be done by the amateur used to simple bolt-ons. The average civic or accord driver that has an intake and exhaust are putting down maybe 140-160hp again this is nothing a very slow time of about 13-15 seconds in the 0-60. My advise is steer clear of civics and accords if you want a fast car. Buy a car that was made for performance examples being a mustang or a camaro. if i were you i wuld go with a fox body mustang years 87-92 older cars but with a stock 225hp and with only 1k put in could easily get up to 300-325hp depending on your mods of choice. Ditch the ricer idea and get a muscle car that was meant for power civics were never made to be power driven so get a car that was built to be ready for many mods. I'm a 40 year old male who is on his 12th lesson. I'm fine when there is little traffic, but as soon as I have to do simple things like moving off on traffic lights when there is a traffic behind me, I tend to rush the clutch, stalling the car and causing more anxiety for myself. I feel that there is a lot of pressure for me to get up to speed with all the experienced drivers, and I don't want to delay or be slow. It's really silly, I know, because that's what I end up doing. Saturn . How to Assemble Xenon HeadlightsIf the halogen headlights on your vehicle are too dim for your preference, replacing them with xenon headlights may be the right choice. Xenon headlight bulbs are high-intensity discharge lights, manufactured to last much longer than halogens and to emit more lumens, a measurement of brightness. No special tools are needed, and no extraneous parts need to be removed. Expect the entire process to take about half an hour. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Turn off your car and prop open your hood. 2 Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the headlight assembly by depressing the side tabs and unplugging it. 3 Plug the wiring harness into the socket on the ballast that comes with the xenon headlight kit. 4 Remove the halogen headlight bulb that's currently in the headlight assembly. 5 Plug the wiring harness that came with the ballast to the back of the xenon headlight. 6 Set the xenon headlight into the headlight assembly in the same way the halogen headlight was set. 7 Mount the ballast to the rear of the headlight assembly using the double-sided tape provided in the xenon headlight kit.
Saturn . Headlight Assembly InstallationYou may decide to replace a vehicle's headlight assembly when the lens is damaged, or the cost of replacing headlights or wiring outweighs the cost of replacing the entire assembly. Fortunately, by following a few steps, you can replace a headlight assembly on your own and avoid having to take the vehicle to a repair shop. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Screwdriver Wrench Step by Step : 1 Engage the parking brake and turn off the vehicle's ignition for safety purposes. 2 Open the hood and remove any cover that may be concealing the headlights. This may require you to remove screws or bolts by turning them counterclockwise with a screwdriver or wrench. Set the screws or bolts aside for use later. 3 Pull the headlight assembly forward slightly, enough to locate the electrical connector at the rear of the assembly. Remove the electrical connector. This may involve pressing a clip on the side of the connector. Remove the entire assembly from the vehicle and set aside. 4 Attach the electrical connector to the rear of the new headlight assembly. Insert the new headlight assembly into the vehicle. Secure the assembly using the screws or bolts that you removed earlier. Turn the screws or bolts clockwise with a screwdriver or wrench until tightened. 5 Replace any cover that you removed. Close the hood and test the new headlights for proper operation. Tips & Warnings A small number of vehicles may require extra steps, such as removing the bumper, to access the headlight assembly. Consult your vehicle owners manual for specific instructions. The points and condenser are sometimes packaged together as a tune-up kit. You may not need to replace the cap and rotor now, but the data will be handy when you do. Changing \four Spark Ptuqs How often you replace spark plugs depends on the type of plugs you have. You may have 30,000-mile plugs, or — if the plugs have platinum tips — they may be good for up to 100,000 miles. (For detailed information about what spark plugs do, see Chapter 5.) Finding your spark plugs Of course, before you can change your spark plugs, you have to find them. Look for a set of thick wires (or thin cables) that enter your engine block in neat rows — on both sides if you have a V-6 or V-8 engine, or on one side if you have a straight 4- or 6-cylinder engine (also called an in-line engine). These spark-plug wires run from the distributor (or ignition coil) to the spark plugs. O t O Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System Saturn . Before you take care of your spark plugs, you must understand what the terms cylinder sequence and firing order mean. Cylinder sequence The cylinder sequence of an engine is the order in which the cylinders of the engine are numbered. This sequence varies from one type of vehicle to another, depending on whether it has front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive and whether the vehicle has a "straight" (sometimes called "in-line") engine, a V-type engine, or a transverse engine. Here are cylinder sequences for all of these: In all U.S.-made straight 4- and 6-cylinder vehicles with rear-wheel drive, the cylinder nearest the front of the car is called the #1 cylinder. The numbering for the rest of the cylinders (#2, #3, #4, and so on) runs in sequence back toward the firewall at the rear of the engine compartment (see Figures 12-2 and 12-3). Some foreign-built cars reverse the cylinder sequence. The #1 cylinder is at the rear, near the firewall. If you have a foreign car and no owner's manual, ask your local dealer where your #1 cylinder is. Cylinder sequence Saturn .
